Subway Dance Party 2k9 Details
January 27th, 2009 | Posted by in Upcoming MissionsEveryone is invited to participate in Improv In Toronto’s 2nd Annual Subway Dance Party.
This is a silent dance party on a subway. All participants come with their OWN MUSIC, on an ipod or mp3 player. We will get on the subway and one by one start dancing, until the whole train is dancing. And yet seemingly to no music

All the information you need is below. Please read it all so this can be pulled off without any problems!
Requirments For Participation:
1) Willing to dance on the subway
2) Pretend you don’t know what’s going on
3) Have fun
Details:
When: Saturday, February 21 at 3:00 PM, Sharp! (Over by around 5:00)
Where: Meet at the giant horseman statue in the middle of Queens Park. To subway there, walk directly south from Museum Station. (Google Maps)
Bring: A metropass/tokens, Mp3 Player or Ipod
Wear: Normal winter clothes (hat, gloves, etc)
How it works:
We will assemble within Queens Park at the horseman statue at 3 PM. Please be on time. Feel free to be early.
After all participants have arrived we will be splitting everyone into two groups. Each group will be getting on a separate subway.
Once we’re organized the first group of two, will all head up to Museum Station. Do not talk to others once you enter the subway system. No one knows each other. You will then wait for a train to arrive going south and all board your assigned cars (follow your team leader). We may let one train go before entering to make sure everyone is ready.
Meanwhile the second group will still be waiting at Queens Park. After waiting 12 minutes, they will follow suit, and go to Musuem Station. The same process will occur as they all board a train going southbound (once again we may let one train go, to make sure everyone is ready).
Sit in the car as you normally would. Put your headphones in, and get your music ready. Your team leader will have chosen the first few dancers, as they begin dancing act as if you are a normal commuter. Would you just ignore them? Or stare in shock?
From this point, you can join in anywhere up until Union. We hope to stagger the number of people joining the dance though. So feel free to wait a bit before joining in, we want this to look gradual. We will need some to wait until Union before joining the dance (at this point the subway will be rocking).
If anyone asks you why you’re dancing, tell them that “you just felt like joining in” or “you are on your way to a dance tryout” (or something along those lines, be original!).
We will exit the train at Wellesley Station. Pay attention so you don’t miss this stop. Upon arriving we’ll completely stop dancing and walk off the train like nothing happened. We will then get onto the other side of the tracks, and repeat the mission back around the loop. If you’d like to meet up and talk about the mission, we’ll meet back up at Queens Park. Otherwise feel free to take off at your stop.
Feel free to wear some fun dance clothes or a costume if you like, but keep in mind the people who are dressed up will join the dance closer to Union. As for dancing, please be considerate that other people are commuting. We’re trying to spice up there day, and give them something to laugh at, not annoy them.
This is going to fun and I’m really happy that you are taking part in it. You may bring along friends if you like, but make sure they get a chance to read all of these instructions.
See you on the 21st
