On a wintry Saturday afternoon, on January 10th, 2009, Improv In Toronto rallied over 300 people to get on the Yonge-University Spadina TTC line, wearing no pants. The “No Pants Subway Ride” mission, originally conceived by Improv Everywhere in New York in 2001. Now in its eighth straight year, 22 cities participated from Sydney to Calgary. Toronto’s “No Pants Subway Ride” had the second most people involved in this mission, after the New York event. Over 300 agents were spread out over an entire subway train, bafflng, surprising, and frightening thousands of transit riders.

Toronto’s 2nd Annual No Pants! Subway Ride will take place on Saturday, January 10. More info about the meeting point and start time will be posted to this site later on this month. For now, save the date.

The No Pants! Subway Ride is annual event staged by Improv Everywhere, every January in New York City. This event has now become a global phenomenon, with the mission being preformed all over North America in past years.
The mission is simple, agents get onto a subway car wearing no pants, just there boxers or underwear. They act like everything is normal, and just sit quitely reading the newspaper or listening to music. If asked about why they are not wearing pants, they DO NOT admit the truth. They will say things like “Oh, I just forgot my pants…” or “It didn’t feel cold enough to wear pants today”.

The No Pants! Subway Ride is a prank pulled every year by Improv Everywhere since 2002. This year a number of cities around the US and around the world took part. Including us in Toronto!
75 agents showed up in the parking lot for this mission. After a briefing we made out way over to the subway where we filled up an entire car. We all took our pants off before entering and then got on. Havoc immediatly ensued as people realised what was happening
