Some Links…

November 3rd, 2009 1 comment

As Improv in Toronto continues to grow in size, we continue to place our “footprint” across the internet. For your ease, I’ve brought all our important links together in this one post:

Facebook - We post all of our big events on facebook, so if you’ve yet to join our group, you’re missing out. The group is slowly nearing a huge milestone, only 100 people away from 3,000 members!

YouTube - The first place our videos will always pop up is our youtube channel, so it’s definitely something you want to keep tabs on. It’s also only 100 subscribers away from 500, so help us out and subscribe!

Twitter - If your someone who uses twitter, than you have no reason not to follow us. Our twitter is the first place to hear any and all news regarding IT.

Mailing List - One of the most important features of Improv in Toronto, so if you havn’t signed up for it yet, do so now. We send out emails about ALL of our upcoming missions here, and can notify you when the blog has been updated.

Flikr - If you are someone who comes out to our events, and takes pictures, be sure to upload them all to our Flikr group. By doing so, you have a good chance they may be featured on our blog!

Vimeo - Not quite as important as our youtube channel, but this is the other video upload site we use. Very good for watching our HD Videos, as well as ones that can’t be put on youtube because of copyright music.

Wikipedia - Not the most interesting page about us currently, but you’re welcome to edit it for us to make it really cool!

Urban Prankster Group - The very beginnings of our whole organization came from here. Feel free to join up, and discuss possible missions you think we should run!

Paypal - If you ever have a couple extra dollars, than give us a thought. Being a completely volunteer based organization makes it difficult to keep running many of our larger and more expensive missions.

Darkness & Light Dance Choreography!

October 20th, 2009 No comments

Our instructional videos for the Darkness and Light Dance are now up! The choreography is shown in 5 separate parts, to make it easier for everyone to learn the steps.

The dance may seem difficult at first, but with a little practice we’re sure you’ll get the hang of it. And don’t worry about perfection, this about fun! Just give it your best attempt.

Plus we’ll be going over everything again with you at the rehearsal!

Check out the first video here:

ATTENTION: Stop dancing where no one is watching…

September 30th, 2009 No comments

You know those choreographed dances on TV and the internet… where someone breaks out into a dance, people join and join until the whole place is jumpin’.

YouTube Preview Image

Well, your time is now, Improv in Toronto is hosting it’s very own choreographed dance! And we’re inviting you, good ol’ citizens of Toronto, to join in the fun! Confirm you can come on the facebook event!

What we require you to do:
1. Learn the dance moves (will be posted on YouTube on October 15th)
2. Come to the dress reharsal (Oct 30th -> 6-8pm, location TBD
3. Show up for the event! (Oct 30th -> 9:30pm, @ Dundas Square)

Details:
When: Friday, October 30th at 6:00 PM, Sharp!
Where: First we will be meeting for the rehearsal. The location of this has not been determined yet, so hold tight. After the rehearsal we will have a break, and will then meet up at Dundas Square for the actual performance.
Bring: A penlight/flashlight/light source that can turn off
Wear: Dressed in black

Note: If you plan on coming to the actual dance. You must be at the rehearsal.

How it works:
The Rehearsal will be held the day of the event, only a couple hours prior. Our choreographers will be going over the full routine with the group, and we will run through it a couple times.

We will then have an hour and half break, in which participants can get something to eat, hang out, and make their way to Dundas Square for 9:30pm.

The main event will be done while CTV is doing their live feed for their newscast. Also, this will be filmed for an upcoming TV show we’ve been helping out on! So if you like lights, cameras and dancing, come out!

Afterwards:
The dancing and fun times will continue after the actual dance ends. Everyone is invited for a large after-party once the event ends, in Dundas Square. Beverages and snacks will be served, a DJ will be playing and some prizes will be given out! So stick around, and chill out with your new found friends!

Please join and invite all of your friends! You won’t want to miss this =)

Spotlight on the Red and White

September 14th, 2009 No comments

This past Saturday, Improv in Toronto had one of their largest event ever. At around 2pm, a small car was stopped by some very tough looking bodyguards on bloor street.

The next eight minutes were just a blast.

If you happen to witness the event, we would love to hear from you and your stories, either as a participant or as a bystander. Comment on this thread so you can share your viewpoints to the world!
