Improv In Toronto’s 2nd Annual Subway Dance Party will take place on Saturday, February 21. More info about the meeting point and start time will be posted later on this month. For now, save the date.

The Subway Dance Party is exactly what it sounds like. We dance on the subway! But we have a twist, it is done silently:

Everyone attending the mission brings there mp3 player or iPod loaded full with fun dance music, and then we all sit around the subway inconspicuously. Once everyone is ready, one person will stand up a begin to dance, then another, etc. We’ll stagger people joining in over the next couple stops so that to the people on the subway it seems completely random and unplanned. As far as they can tell, we all just felt like joining in with the original person.

Last year’s Subway Dance Party:

The mission will baffle thousands of subway riders, and gives everyone a chance to fulfill there OTHER lifetime dream (the first was riding the subway with no pants), dancing on the subway!

No Pants! Subway Ride Report

January 11th, 2009 | Posted by Improv in Toronto in Updates - ()

The second annual No Pants! Subway Ride, was a blast this Saturday in Toronto. We had great turnout of around 300 people, meaning we had more than 3 times the amount from last year! We met up at Queens Park in the ridiculous temperature of -9 and quickly dispersed into six groups. Each group was assigned a car they would be getting on.

If you were there, leave us an agent report in the comments. We’d love to hear any memorable moments, quotes, or comments. As I’m sure everyone had a unique experinece. We should have a complete report with pictures up in a week or so. For now, enjoy the flickr sets from our official photographers:

And to make sure you don’t forget, join the facebook event: No Pants! Subway Ride

The No Pants! Subway Ride is annual event staged by Improv Everywhere, every January in New York City. This event has now become a global phenomenon, with the mission being preformed all over North America in past years.

The mission is simple, agents get onto a subway car wearing no pants, just there boxers or underwear. They act like everything is normal, and just sit quitely reading the newspaper or listening to music. If asked about why they are not wearing pants, they DO NOT admit the truth. They will say things like “Oh, I just forgot my pants…” or “It didn’t feel cold enough to wear pants today”.

Finish Line Marathon

December 15th, 2008 | Posted by Improv in Toronto in Completed Missions - ()

For our most recent mission, 20 agents met up downtown with one huge finish line, Canadian flags, a cowbell, and a load of team spirit! We then set it up in front of random strangers to see how they would react! Would they stop and stare? Or just try to ignore us? Or maybe even if we’re lucky, sprint to the finish!?

Repeat Customer

November 28th, 2008 | Posted by Improv in Toronto in Completed Missions - ()

One agent enters a downtown Starbucks. They buy a drink, then leave. After they have left another agent will enter, dressed exact same. They will act out the EXACT same routine, buy the same drink, etc. Then leave. This sequence will repeat every 3 minutes.

To begin the mission, we staked out the Hero Burger across the street, for our base camp.

Each agent would cross the street, act out the predetermined routine, and then return.

1)Enter Store
2)Get into line.
3)Drop hat by accident just before it is your turn
4)Ask if the the Vanilla Latte is good.
5)Order it with whipcream
6)In the middle of the order you are interrupted by a phone call.
7)Apologise for the interruption
8)Thank the employee nicely.
8)Pick up drink when it is done being made
9)Ask where the milk and sugar are
10)Notice a placed agent, and walk over and exclaim you havn’t seen them in years.
11)Ask where the the placed agent where the subway station is.
